LMC offers a Paid Work Experience Placement Programme in the Hospitality Industry which provides an opportunity for students to improve their English language skills in a working environment, whilst in hotels and other catering establishments across the UK. 

Students will be placed in companies in the UK based on their experience, level of English and area of interest.  Many hotel placements will include your meals and board.  You will be expected to work a minimum of 40 hours a week and you will be paid the National Minimum Wage hourly rate which corresponds to your age (£5.35 per hour if you are over 22 years of age and £4.45 per hour is you are under 22 years of age).    All students enrol for General English lessons at LMC. The English component of the course consists of English Classes before the placement (minimum one week, duration depends on length of sandwich course) and a week of classes after the placement. The Work Experience Placement can be for 8 weeks or longer.

Enrolment Requirements          Sufficient level of English to understand the duties that the students will be required to complete. Student Visa for duration of the programme (Non EU Passport holders) 24-week minimum Work Experience Paid Work Experience Programme Duration                                                          27 or 39 Weeks (The Work Placement itself 24 or 36 weeks) Work Experience Locations Participants will be placed in hotels and catering companies across the UK.  Specific locations cannot be guaranteed.  London is not normally an option as this programme is mainly designed to assist in solving live-in staffing shortfalls in UK areas outside city centres.    Positions available: Waiting Staff, Room Attendants, Bar Staff, Porters, Kitchen Porters, House Keepers and General Hotel Duties.

Application Process

• Submit a LMC Work Experience Placement Programme Enrolment Form, a CV with a scanned passport photo and a Letter of Motivation.
• You will need to pay the course fees and the placement fee in full.
  A confirmation receipt of the booking will be sent once the booking and payment is received and a letter of enrolment covering the period of study and work experience will be issued to you. 
• If a student visa is required, a placement will be allocated once the Student Visa has been issued.
