Letter of Motivation

This letter should explain what kind of placement you are interested in and why you would like to do it in the UK. You should mention whether you have any previous work experience in that area, any relevant qualifications you have and why you have chosen to work in that field. It is also important to say why you think you are the best person for that particular placement, highlighting your personal strengths and any other information you feel will support your application.

Example Letter of Motivation - Unpaid Work Experience Placement Programme

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing regarding my application for the English and Work Experience Placement Programme at London Meridian College. My ambition is to improve my English whilst gaining valuable experience in the business sector in the UK and build on my recent experience in Brazil.

A graduate in Business Studies at Sao Paulo University, I have been working for the last two years as Assistant Manager for a small private company in the Advertising sector.. My main duties included managing a team of ten staff working on advertising projects for local businesses.  Ideally, I would like to find a placement in an advertising company where I would be given the opportunity to use my skills and gain new knowledge.

At present, I consider my English to be Upper-Intermediate level. However, I am extremely eager to develop my language skills in the workplace.

I am an highly-motivated individual, with a professional attitude and appearance. Always committed to getting the job done, I work well under pressure and am able to work to strict deadlines. I am confident I would be an asset to any company where I did my placement.

Example Letter of Motivation - Paid Work Experience Placement Programme

Dear Sir/Madam.

I am writing to apply for the English and Work Experience Placement Programme (Hospitality) at London Meridian College. As a recent graduate in Tourism, I am looking for a placement in the UK within the Hospitality Industry, so that I can learn more about that sector whilst improving my English.

During my time as a student I worked part-time at a large hotel in Krakow. My main duties including waiting on tables at large functions and silver service. In the last year I have been Head Waitress, responsible for a team of five waiting staff.

I am a hard-working, responsible individual who enjoys working as part of a team. Extremely well-motivated, I would make the most of any placement opportunity available to me in the UK.
