Is your College accredited by the British Council? Yes, LMC is accredited by the British Council. What is the difference between an accredited and a non-accredited school? An accredited school maintains a higher standard of teaching and services. We are regularly inspected by the British Council to ensure we keep up with their requirements. A non-accredited school is not inspected and therefore there is no guarantee that you will receive a good service. If you are in London the best thing to do is to have a trial lesson before you choose where to study. Where is the school located? In which zone? Is it far from the centre? London Meridian College has two branches, both conveniently located. LMC Oxford Street is in Zone 1 and is a few minutes walk from Oxford Circus or Tottenham Court Road station (depending on how many shops you stop at on the way!). LMC Finsbury Park is in Zone 2 and is seven minutes walk from Finsbury Park tube station. Is the school located in a safe area? Yes, both schools are located within safe areas. However, we always advise students to take care when going out alone at night. Is it easy to find a job in London? This depends on your experience and qualifications.
What will the school offer in terms of Internet access? Both Oxford Street and Finsbury Park offer free Internet access. Can you tell me which bank to go to? We do not have an agreement with a specific bank. We recommend you visit your local branch and ask them if a letter from the college will assist you in opening an account. If you then provide us with the exact address of the bank we will issue you with a bank letter. Can you give me a letter for council tax? Yes but it is important to check with your council first if your course qualifies for a discount. Some councils require more intensive courses. Can I have a reference for my employer? The employer can always send a reference request to the DOS. Can I get a letter from you saying I am allowed to work? This information can be obtained from the Home Office website.
How can I register with the NHS? If you are a student for more then 6 months you can register with the NHS. Short term students will have limited NHS services such as accident and emergency services. How can I get from the place where I live to the school? You can use the bus, underground, taxi or maybe cycle to school. Do I get a discount for public transportation if I’m a student? If your course is 14 weeks or more you qualify for a Student Transport Discount card. Can you send me a brochure? LMC no longer produces any printed marketing materials. Our web-site is constantly updated and packed with information and all essential documents are available in PDF format, so that they can be downloaded and printed if necessary. Whereas printed materials can date quickly, we can make instant changes to our web-site, constantly offering new courses, promotions and responding to feedback from everyone who works with or studies at LMC. Reducing our printing costs helps us to ensure that our course prices remain extremely competitive. We also like to think we are playing our part in conserving the rainforests…
