The International Cerificate in Financial English is an advanced language qualification for accountants and finance professionals. London Meridian College offers a 6-week preparation course for the Cambridge International Certificate in Financial English (ICFE) examination.

WHO IS CAMBRIDGE ICFE SUITABLE FOR?

ICFE is an ideal qualification for you if you are thinking of, or already pursuing, a career in accountancy or finance. For finance professionals who already have established careers, it can be used to validate their Engish language skills in a finance context. This examination is also suitable for candidates who wish to embark on careers in accounting and finance and will be a valuable additio to their CV's.

REQUIREMENTS

Students need to be of FCE or preferably Advanced Level/IELTS 5.5 or above. The course and the exam are set at levels B2 and C1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.

COURSEWORK

Throughout the course you will be expected to complete practice tests, which will make up the majority of your homework. The ICFE teacher will use a variety of materials bt will focus on the official coursebook "Absolute Financial English".

CLASSES

Full-time course of 3 hours per day, Monday to Friday 15:00-18:10

Intensive course of 6 hours per day, Monday to Friday 11:30-18:10

BENEFITS OF THE ICFE COURSE

Studying for the Cambridge International Certificate in Financial English (ICFE) will help you improve your English Language skills and use them in a wide range of accounting and financial contexts.

• The course will help international students who are studying ACCA and CIMA to improve their chances of succeeding in their courses.
• The cours material is based on realistic texts, topics and tasks that are found in the daily working life of those employed in accounting and finance roles.
• The course is practical and based on everyday situations encountered in a financial setting (business meetings, discussions, giving presentations, writing business repors and letters).
• By the end of the course, you will be able to understand texts of various and relevant types (financial statements, journal articles, letters, reports and proposals).

CAMBRIDGE ICFE EXAM

Cambridge ICFE is a high-level, internationally recognised qualification for aspiring and establised finance professionals.

From January 2010 exam centres will be able to offer the exam up to 6 times a year. The examination takes about 3 hours in total and consists of four parts:

• Test of Reading (75min)
• Test of Writing (75min)
• Test of Listening (40min)
• Test of Speaking (16min)

THE AIMS OF THE ICFE:

• to assess candidates' ability to operate in English in an international finance environment
• to allow candidates to demonstrate to employers their ability to communicate in English with clients
• to allow candidates to demonstrate to educational and training institutions their ability to follow a course of study in finance and accounting where a significant portion of the instruction is in English.
