Our English for nursing course is designed to enhance communication skills and equip foreign nurses with specialist English language knowledge of the healthcare environment to enable them to work more confidently in their job. The course concentrates on all aspects of the language with extra focus on speaking and listening. The course is designed to give our students experience in day-to-day nursing activities such as patient registration, patient handover, post-operation assessment as well as an insight into the UK healthcare system. This course is available at our Archway branch either as a full time course or part time course.
The long-term course focusses on the needs of qualified nurses who are required to obtain 7.0 in an IELTS exam in all four areas tested (reading, writing, listening, speaking). The course places heavy emphasis on writing and speaking, the two areas which are most challenging to non-native speakers.
As the IELTS examinations address such general issues as education, the environment, current affairs, travel, and so on, this course reflects both health issues and some common general issues, for discussion, reading material and writing topics.
It is open to anybody with an upper-intermediate level of English or above and is aimed at people working in healthcare such as nurses, carers and administrators whose first language is not English.
